FMCG Monitor: FY 2016
The Philippines remains one the fastest growing economies in Asia, expanding at 6.8% in 2016. With strong performance in the Industry and Services sectors, the Philippines records its fastest growth in the last 3 years.
In-home FMCG spending also expanded at around 5% as Filipino homes buy in larger basket sizes. The market further develops in NCR, North Luzon and Visayas while it stabilizes in South Luzon and Mindanao. In terms of channel, Sari-sari stores continue to be the biggest though stable at 2% growth. Hyper/supermarkets, Drugstores, Direct Sales and Convenience stores gain momentum in 2016.
