Purchasing Konfidence: Q4 2017
Did the purchasing Konfidence of Filipino Households improve in Q4 2017?
Purchasing Konfidence is a quarterly report that gives you an indication on the degree of optimism Filipino Urban households are expressing. This done by looking at their attitude regarding current and future economic situation and their real behaviors in FMCG spending.
Specifically, this takes into account three components:
- Purchasing Capability - How Filipino consumers perceive the prices changes, their financial situation for the time being as well as for the next 12 months?
- Willingness to Buy - Are Filipino shoppers willing to spend money to make their life easier, to spend freely when buying grocery, to make major purchase?
- Real Purchase - What is their real purchase behavior?
In the last quarter of 2017, Filipino urban households remain to be pessimistic as compared to last year and it’s mainly driven by the increasing number of population who are spending less on FMCG. This is an indication that households could be reallocating their budget elsewhere.
Their perception towards their purchasing capability remains positive as majority are still hopeful when it comes to their financial income and prices. However, the number of households who think prices will strongly increase in the upcoming 12 months continue to expand as they may be anticipating the impacts of TRAIN Law.
Their optimism on purchasing capability was pulled down by their unwillingness to spend on FMCG. But, there are some who are now willing to spend on bigger purchases.
